If you were asked to define Easter with one word, which word would you choose to use? Which single word would you use to describe Jesus’ victory over the grave and His triumph over death? I would choose to use the word … SURPRISE! His empty tomb that day was filled with surprises.
The crowd was ecstatic! Praising Jesus as King. Waving Palm Branches. Dropping their garments on the ground. It was a celebration! When suddenly Jesus began to cry LOUDLY. Five days later many of the same people who praised Him would shout Crucify Him. It was a wild ride of emotions!
The apostle Peter failed Jesus, but he wasn’t a failure. He went on to serve and sacrifice his life for Christ. Failures happen in this life, but failure doesn’t have to be final. Through God’s Son we all can have the Thrill of Victory despite our failures.
No one knew her name, but everyone knew her crime. She isn’t identified by a name, but by a label; “the woman caught in the act of adultery”. She was a label to everyone but Jesus and He sees her as a person in need of His Undeniable Grace.
A life principle to live by: “The intensity of the search is in direct proportion to the value of the item you are looking for.” And the fact that God loves us enough to send His One and only Son to find us, should tell us we have great value in His Sight.
